Work was never really finished for the employees of Rextel Corporation. So when R24 and Q103 would glaze out beyond the huge window of their Life Dome, they knew they were taking the time.

Both lived within a vast territory called “Life Dome 3”. By 2050 most of the world’s population lived within similar facilities.  R24 still remembered that he was once called Jackson and was brought to the dome by his parents.  He tried hard not to remember these things, as such thoughts were forbidden.

At the time, it was considered a positive experience for the children to be separated from the parents at a young age. Most educated and wealthy parents took advantage of the privilege to give their children such a great opportunity. Rextel Corporation would guarantee healthcare, education, employment and safety for all it’s life-workers.

As the nation-states across the globe began to falter, Rextel and other multinational corporate enterprises began building the dome enclosure to ‘secure’ their employees and their profits.

Nobody objected.  There was nobody left to object. Any government elected-officials in office already worked for the company.  It all happened so fast.  Why would anybody object? Most thought it was progress, the next step in private enterprise.

Every human need and activity was regulated and cared for.  Now the individual could have a true focus – work. There wasn’t any time to consider individual choices or freedoms. Eventually, all talk between individuals was banned for to protect everyone.

The sky over the dome was vast and majestic as R24 and Q103 shared out beyond their world.  R24 still remembered  that he was once called, “Jackson” before he was invited to participate in Rextel’s “Leadership Opportunity” and his parents brought him to the dome.  He felt Q103 sitting near him and it gave him a strange feeling of peace.

He tried hard not to think these things, such thoughts were strictly forbidden.
