Chris Isaak – Blue Hotel (1986)
Nobody knew Leelou’s secret and she tried hard to give the impression of a normal human. Sure, people noticed that she was different. Nocturnal and insomniac, free spirited, empathic but awkward to those she couldn’t feel. Hard even, cruel. The only things she liked about humanity were the children, punk, and the sea.
With the knowledge of many centuries and transformations, she became a brilliant and world-famous pathologist, a job that satisfied some of her oppressed needs. She never used her true abilities.
Until she met Matteo.
She felt him long before she met him. Foggy visions of an ancient lover that gave her a wonderful confusion in all those long cigarette nights… She searched him in the ceiling until dawn. Matteo’s voice and vision came closer in the twilight, she perceived the vibes and talked to him without moving her lips , but he was human and had to speak to her to communicate. At least in the beginning.
They spent many nights on the phone, moving like shadows behind glass- finally her insomnia made sense. Until they agreed to meet in the third season, the gloomy and most beautiful season.
Something was brewing in the fog of the night at Chateau Mormont. She floated silently like a shadow through cypresses that revealed a different scent through the grey layer. She opened the door.
She came closer, held his head gently and stared into his dark eyes.
“Matteo…” she said tenderly.
“Matteo, my love…” she said, her voice heavy from hundreds years of longing.
“… I have crossed oceans of time to find you.”
He saw her sharp teeth only briefly, before they buried themselves in his neck. He closed his eyes.
“Cuore mio. Sei tutto per me”
My heart. You are everything to me.
